DYEA really shows that youth can become active in the environment if they have been given the right opportunity. Although I have had my ideas for the project before going to Japan, the experience in Japan helped me to think about how I can expand my project, making it practical, and consider the future sustainability. One of the main concepts of DYEA that will always be with me is that love for nature can spark individual inspiration and action more than facts or knowledge. And lastly, each different stakeholders think differently and we must always take them into account when doing the project.
What impressed me the most about the program is the emphasis on experience, where the concept about the power of love was explained and throughout the program, I had thought about this concept and it does correspond to how I began my interest in the environment.
Each different phases of the whole trip allocated certain time for group discussion and work, which allowed participants to discuss freely their ideas and feelings. This allows you to grow mentally and emotionally.
I think that all those advisors who were present in the program were always ready to help and give suggestions.

DYEA is the greatest thing that happened to me this year. Participating in the program, I get to not only learn the Japanese examples of environmental initiatives, but also go into the pristine nature, feel it, and experience it, at first-hand. More importantly, thanks to DYEA, I was blessed for life, with fellow young people who are energetic and more than willing to make a difference for our planet earth. Now, the program has ended, but it is not exactly the end; it is in fact a beginning. We have gone back to our home countries and are translating what we have learned into action. Of course, it is not so easy, but we will never give up because the inspiration gained in DYEA will continue to nurture our enthusiasm; and more importantly, we are not alone, our friends will always be there to cheer us up. Despite the far distance, friendship is borderless. This is what DYEA has taught me. Having been blessed with friends and gained exceptional environmental knowledge as well as experience, DYEA is the greatest thing that happened to me this year.
